About Dr. Wilson

Dr. Felicia R. Wilson is a respected parent development specialist, parent educator, author, and motivational speaker who has dedicated her life to empowering parents and caregivers. With her extensive knowledge and personal experiences, she brings a unique perspective to her work, having raised children with emotional and behavioral disorders as well as physical disabilities, such as spina bifida.

Driven by her own journey as a parent, Dr. Wilson has become a trusted resource for families navigating the challenges of raising children with diverse and special needs and mental health diagnoses. Her expertise extends beyond the home, as she has also excelled in nonprofit leadership, particularly in the field of child welfare, juvenile justice, and intellectually Developmentally Disabled (IDD) populations with children, youth, and young adults. 

Dr. Wilson’s educational and professional background in criminal justice, human & social service, and public administration has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the systems that impact families and individuals with disabilities. This multidisciplinary approach allows her to advocate effectively for the needs and rights of those she serves.

As an author addressing the challenges of living and growing up in foster care, Dr. Wilson speaks of the importance of healing childhood trauma so the cycle isn’t repeated with your own children. Dr. Wilson has facilitated insightful trainings and workshops on parenting children with emotional and behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, and the everyday child. She is working on her parenting book to help parents navigate the challenges of raising special needs boys and young men, which provides practical strategies, guidance, and emotional support to parents and caregivers, helping them navigate their unique challenges. Her work has been widely recognized for its compassion, empathy, and ability to inspire positive social change within families and communities.
